A Seamless Transformation

This charming two-bedroom cottage in Kilbirnie underwent a thoughtful extension by Ben and his team, transforming it into a modern, functional home. The homeowners wanted to add a third bedroom and improve indoor-outdoor flow while maintaining the character of their home.

With council consent secured, the under-utilised front garden became the perfect space to expand the house towards the footpath. A new concrete foundation was laid, incorporating insulation into the strong slab. Ben ensured a seamless transition by raising the new floor to match the existing one, creating continuity throughout the home.

A New Improved Cottage

Beyond adding a spacious guest bedroom, this project provided the opportunity to modernise the entire layout. Existing features were upgraded, including retrofitting double glazing to the original windows. Structural reinforcements were carefully integrated, with new beams hidden within the ceiling, and new materials were matched precisely with the existing cladding and roofing for a cohesive look.

Throughout the three-month build, Ben worked closely with the homeowners to enhance the layout and flow of the entire property. This included adding a new deck at the back and replacing the garage, further improving the home’s functionality and appeal.

The result is a beautifully executed extension that seamlessly blends old and new, showcasing Ben’s meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship.
